Installation Height

Roller Blinds

Under the BS EN 13120 Child Safety Standard, installation height is used to calculate the maximum allowed chain/cord lengths and is defined as the distance from the top of the blind to the floor when fitted. The maximum length of control chains and cords depends on whether the installation height is known or unknown and the child safety components used for each type of blind.

Roller Blinds with standard breakaway control chain

Installation height known - maximum chain length will be installation height less 60cm
Installation height unknown - maximum chain length will be 2/3 of the drop of the blind

Roller Blinds with optional continuous control chain

Installation height known - maximum chain length will be installation height less 150cm
Installation height unknown - maximum chain length will be 100cm

Roller Blinds with soft rise or motorised controls

If using our soft rise or motorised controls the blind will be inherently child-safe as it contains no control chains or cords
